A home run for home care in North Simcoe Muskoka
The first annual Saint Elizabeth Health Care "Home run for home care" softball tournament was held on Saturday to raise money for caregiver support in the community of Barrie and area.
The North Simcoe Muskoka team of Saint Elizabeth Health Care organized the event, which attracted more than 80 participants and raised over $1,300 for the Saint Elizabeth Health Care Foundation. "It is so wonderful to see a fun event like this also have a larger purpose, which is raising funds to support family caregivers in our community who greatly need our help," said Dr. Joan Lesmond, executive director of the Saint Elizabeth Health Care Foundation. "I would like to thank Althea Rumney and Rose Cheeseman as well as all of the participants and donors for making this day such a success and we look forward to an even bigger and better event next year."
"Although the home team didn't win the tournament, it was a win for our community because of the money we raised for the Foundation," said Jennifer Berry, Regional Director. "Working in the health care field we can see how much people need our help, so it feels great to have an event like this and really be able to make a difference with the money we've raised."
Saint Elizabeth Health Care is a charitable not-for-profit home and community care organization that provides services throughout Ontario and nationally such as nursing, personal support and therapies.
